Towards the Light by SaraRComment: Superb photo! I am sure I visited this place when I was on holiday in Yorkshire. Is it near Ripon? Can't remember the name of the place off the top of my head. |

Additionally, it is highly interesting/eclectic meaning it keeps me here long enough to offer a longer comment and a vote of 8 or more.
This is one of my 8s - I like it. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:
1. Wonderful pink and green hues - like those movies that are stylistically graded.
2. Engaging subjects - cute but not sugary.
3. Lovely composition - I particularly like where the horizon is in relation to the frame.
4. The grain/noise. Masterful.
5. The slight glow - a good processing match to the fog.
A photo that is more than the sum of its parts. Well played. |
Thank you Paul - I am very honoured to have caught your attention. |

This picture looks like it is from Scotland (no idea why, but...)
Great image & congratulations on the TT finish. |
Thanks for the lovely feedback. Not Scotland but they are in the UK in Somerset. |

Seagulls are arguably the most photographed bird in the world and we have seen

BUT to have this kind of action and reaction in a seagull shot(or any wildlife shot)for that matter is just superb.
You have taken the ordinary and made it extraordinary.
On top of that I see 3 B's in your shot Birds, Beach, Bite. What more could you ask for.
This is truely a shot to be proud of.
On a side note Hahn23 said these are ring-billed gulls but judging by their size and the tip of their beaks being black my guess would be Herring gull.
It's a bit hard to tell from the picture but that would be my guess.
Again congrats on a great shot. |
Thank you for your kind words and lovely feedback. I was very pleased with the action I captured however I did feel the photo was missing something and I suspect this was due to the distance from which I took the shot causing the original photo not to be too sharp. Hence my attempts to process it to look better. I did feel it was lacking and wished I had a better zoom lens or had got closer to the action.
I have no idea what type of gulls they are - the shot was taken at Lyme Regis in Dorset in the UK if that helps. Also here are some other shots from the same day.
