It is kind of disheartening where the image ended up. But yes, I'd call this a difference in perspective. I took the word complementary as 'negation'.. So in that perspective, black and white were complementary colors... Thanks for some of the wonderful comments.

wow.. excellent photo.. one of the best i've seen today for voting under Solo challenge. really love the halo effect around the mountain deer's horns... one more thing i enjoy in this particular photo is that i can associate "my @$$ is burning out here but still i'm looking for a companion" easily with this.
