Watercolor Digestby carlacrypticComment: Darn. You have presented me with a conundrum here. On one hand, I really don't like the use of digital filters. On the other hand, the use of such a filter REALLY makes the subject of the magazine. I think I will have to make an exception here. |

National Geographicby jas0420Comment: The composition and aspect ration is perfect for a magazine cover. I also really like the soft colors and the background. My only critique would be your choice of magazine title. "Reptile Hobbyist" or "Reptile & Amphibian" would have been better suited. But the again, this isn't a photo title contest. |

Birder's Worldby jrs915Comment: The DOF (blurred behind the title) works perfectly for a magazine cover. Very well done. |

PHOTOgraphic - February 2004 issue (www.photographic.com)by jealbornComment: I like the idea of using an actual magazine cover as inspiration. My recommendations would be to use better chocolate to provide a smoother surface (I use toll house dark chocolate morsels melted in the microwave under low power when I dip strawberries. Only heat for 10-15 seconds at a time and stir between heatings, it tends to burn quickly). Also, the background is to monotonous. Something with a bit of texture would have added some depth. |

Thyme Magazineby dickwilhelmComment: Groan!!!!! I don't know what is worst. The fact that you submitted it or the fact that I laughed. ;-)
As far as I am concerned, you get extra points for bravery. Good luck. |

Country Walking Magazine by jonpinkComment: Excellent composition. Clearly you had a magazine cover layout in mind when you framed this image. Also, the hiker's viewpoint would speak to a hiker and invite them to pick up a copy. Nicely done. |

Lighthouse Digestby LtHousLadyComment: I like the sun behinf the lighthouse effect, however, the resulting darkness of the subject takes much away. Increasing your aperature and reducing your exposure time will provide more light on the building. Unfortunately, if you overdo it, it can blow out the sky as well. If you get a chance to shoot again at that location, you may want to mess around with different aperatures to see what you can do. Failing that, there's always dodging in photoshop. ;) |

Carribean Travelby JPRComment: Very well composed. I have no trouble visualizing this as a cover for a travel magazine. Great, bright colors, a sense of freedom by the lack of clutter, and plenty of space for the title and text. Very well thought out and very well executed. Bravo. |

Lighthouse Digestby browntComment: It' s a beautiful subject. The photo itslef looks a bit washed (and I mean I am nitpicking bit, not a noticable bit), likely the result of the distance between you and the island. A little tweeking of the levels may have pulled more out of it. |

Fortune Magazineby dsidwellComment: That is a wonderful concept and I could definately see something like this on the cover of Fortune. The only thing I would change is the composition. The main subject (the money guys) would look better on one of the lower corners and their shadows should be heating up to one of the top corners where they will be partly covered by the title. |
