Um, wow. You've pulled off a pretty amazing effect here. If only the lighting on the salad weren't so strong. I realize you had to expose for the interior of the mouth, but try it again with the outer scene lit a little softer. All in all, though, very fun and creative.

This is a nice idea, but it lacks a really compelling subject. Also, the lighting is fairly harsh (meaning that the brightest areas are very bright and the darkest areas very dark). I like the straight on view and it serves the purpose of showing the pattern nicely. Perhaps with some softer lighting and maybe (just) one of the "cups" full of something colorful would give context and interest. Nice effort!

I could make a nice cigar box out of that piece of burl. Very nice work.

Well done. I would have given you an 8 purely on the phenomenal composition (you got a 9 from me though, since it was a perfect fit to the challenge). Cropping out the lower half of his (your?) face really reinforces that the man is thinking about the decision. It's a problem a lot of us face (or rather, don't face) everyday and that is what appeals to me. Congrats.

Should have ribboned. The lighting on this shot is superb. Well done.

Highly, highly underrated. 35th is a great showing, but this should have been at least top ten. Keep it up.

5th place is a great showing, but I'm pretty disappointed that this didn't ribbon. It's one of the better shots I've seen on the site and, pardon me for saying, it blows the other entries out of the water for portraying hope in a meaningful, emotional way. This is an immediate classic that I will go back to for reference many times in the future.

Nice effort. I wonder, though, how well it really fits the challenge. Given your title, I'd love to see the owner of the car next to it with a worried expression, holding his hand out like it's starting to drizzle. As it is, it seems to be just a snapshot of a '33-34 Ford 5-window coupe (and a lovely one at that) at a car show.

Shouldn't they have rally caps on? If we're to believe they're really hoping for something, I want to see more tension...more anxiety...more leaning on each other for support. It just looks like any normal at bat in any normal game.
