The image is my favorite of the challenge, personally. For my eye, the cropping is a bit tight: I would have tried leaving more space to the right of the frame (if it was available, of course). The vignetting is also a bit distracting here. But still a top pick.

Outstanding. Moody and ethereal at the same time. Excellent use of space. My only nit--those tack sharp weeds in the "foreground" of the shadows are distracting to me. I would have used a blur tool to try blending them into the tree line or just cloned them out entirely. But the image is quite effective for me even with them in.

I really dig this, conceptually. It's like the bug "snuck" into the frame at the last minute! Visually, I'm about 90% of the way where I think you are headed. Something about the distribution of DOF across the frame doesn't quite work for me--not enough to make it ineffective, though. (I'm kinda distracted, though, by whatever is creating that thin perfectly vertical white line to left of the bug.)

At any rate, a really fine, standout entry in the challenge for me!
