Comment:
A brave novel from an African-American writer at a time of turmoil. The cultural sculpture reinforces your choice.5.

I didn't realize John Grisham's The Last Juror was on the hit list. I like the flames. Not a enough going on here for me I'm afraid. 5.

I like the skull peeking out from behind, maybe more of the shop would have been more of interest. 5.

Magic shot, hard to beat this as a majestic scene, so I'm guessing top ten if not the winner. Fits your novel title well, no real negatives because it exudes overwhelming wonderment. If you post processed a lot well done, if straight from camera, even better. 7.

Nice enough cameo by the moose (or elk? I don't know), not really up on my moose etiquette enough to know what's going on, but I'll take your (and its') word on it. Composition is interesting enough, maybe a little crop off the right side. 5.

Murky and lurky scene. Creates the right atmosphere but the scene at the end of the tunnel is a little bit of a let down. To your credit, the right leaf wall is wonderful to explore and the blueish path is good. 5.

Amusing, I like her twisted stance. Well focused and balanced with the seated woman.

Has the grunge, gives the feel of poverty and degradation. Would have been good to have a child in there, it feels empty, but maybe that's what you wanted.5.

Has the duality, though the red eye doesn't seem to fit with the good doctor, if I have it the right way around, apologies if not. Nice grungy feel. 5.

I feel a little tilt to the left ;) Certainly looks lazy out there, so it fits with your novel. Just a bit flat for me though, I do like those colours all the same. 5.
