Amethyst Sunbird I v1 (PAW 2/52)by HarveyGComment: You're doing a great job, compositions great, there's balance, colour and the scene has an implied dialogue to it. Perhaps you could post up some links to the larger versions as well to get around the dp dimension limitations. |

@ bsluijk I have 38 rolls of b&w and colour film from 2003 that came with an ebay bargain purchase, so far 4 rolls show signs of degeneration, so the negatives are quite 'feral' so to speak. This is from the 4800dpi scan, 9968x7088, 134 meg tiff file (epson v600) reduced to 800x569 Using photoshop, overlays and reducing the size has closed down the zones dramatically.
@ ursula there was definition in that dark area, the processing and small size eliminated it, but I left it there because the crop sits better for the mood, like a 1950's shot in a hunting cabin on an overcast but bright day. |

Week 1by bsluijkComment: For me I think I'm wondering whether the bowl is the feature or the reflection, there is a bit of competition as to the subject, both are giving it a go. Perhaps I would see if cutting the amount of reflection down (so we dont see all of it, maybe to the curve so it is implied) and make more space above the bowl, and maybe a tad 'hair light' to accent the back edge of the rim. Minor point, it seems to tilt slightly to viewer left. You've done well. |

Amur Falcon (PAW 1/52)by HarveyGComment: Great suspended capture, I have to agree with Ursula comments. V2 is better with the blue at the top, kind of anchors the shot on that side, though a more square crop would be my choice. The motivation of the shot doesn't come through, that is, the purpose of it's action. My reaction as a viewer is to wonder what the bird is up to (flying off, hunting, startled by something etc) I'm looking more for something to associate with its movement. I don't think I could have done what you have done - it's a great shot. Hope that helps. |
