The Sideline Coachby OneSweetSinComment: This photo is interesting (I love the expressions), but I'm afraid I can't quite see how it qualifies as a sports image. |

The Beginings of Warby kim100878Comment: Chess a sport? Well, it's certainly a competitive activity, though I'm not sure if I'd call it a sport. The colours are generally good and the choice of perspective is interesting. There a bit of a problem with unwanted reflections, especially in the lower left area. |

Free as a bird...by Apollo2077Comment: The combination of bright sun and haze must have made this a real challenge to photograph. The bright sun has created some hotspots on the "sail" and the mist haze has created some lack of clarity. Also, it would have been better, I think, if the main subject hadn't been quite so centred. |

heavyweight soccerby amonteforteComment: I love the positions of the boy and ball on the left. The boy's off the ground position shows action and is, besides, very graceful. Very nice timing on this. On the other hand, the positions of the Dad and the littlest kid are awkward, with the little one almost hidden by the Dad. Two other problems: the horizon is a bit tilted and the composition, with the large adult in the centre of the frame, is flawed, in my view. |

Aussie Rules, Canadian Styleby ToddhComment: Lots of action and excellent, sharp focus on the two players in the left foreground. I also love the position of the ball and the motion blur on it. I'm not sure about the player bursting into the frame from the left. It does add action, but I think I'd prefer it not to be there. Without it, the composition would be perfectly balanced. |

Frisbee Dogby tfaustComment: Very, very nice! Arguably, "dog frisbee" might not qualify as a sport. To me, though, this image definitely shows the essence of sport--energetic physical movement, intense focus on the object of the game by the player(s). The action is beautifully caught in this image and the composition and colour are excellent. We can feel the dog's intent concentration and see the muscle strain. Great timing for this shot and great use of light and shadow. Yes, I like this one a lot! |

Freediveby peterdehaanComment: Interesting, clear, sharp and frame filling! It's also very clear from the equipment she's using and the "dive" printed on her shoulder strap exactly what sport the model is engaged in. Nice composition and colours, too. |

Paddle Practiceby BeagleboyComment: Definitely a sports them, with a real feeling of competition. Good sharpness from front to back, too. However, the preponderance of straight lines parallel to the top and bottom frames and the lack of any motion blurs or much other evidence of motion give the image a slightly static quality IMHO. |

Future Starby RuchartComment: Nice, frozen movement shot of the young player, presumably at a practice. I like the choice of perspective. I think I'd like more space, though, between the skater and the bottom of the frame so that he had more room to skate into. I have no objection to the slanted yellow edge of the rink. It adds to a sense of movement. |
