Absolutely WONDERFUL Paul. Congrats on the HM. There were obviously a few folks who aren't into nudes judging by the 1's and 2's, so this actually is worthy of being even higher. So well done

Hi everyone.

I forgot how to post additional information in the Photographers Comments section, so let me use this post to say thanks for the kind comments and really generous votes.

Some of you folks asked about the location of this spot. It's at a place called Cape Perpetua on the Central Oregon Coast. It's an amazing spot, but one that is fickle to photograph. This was my 6th trip there, and the first time I've had a shot I thought was worth keeping. If you end up going to see this for yourself, and I highly recommend you do if you are near the area, please keep in mind that it was DEAD CALM seas this day. Usually, you would not want to be anywhere NEAR where I was standing for this shot. The waves on a normal day would absolutely suck you into this hole, and I'm not at all sure that it would be possible to get out.

Paul, thanks for the nice comment. As far as the difference between the two, it's the size thing. I actually just saved the same TIFF file twice, once for DP and once for 1x. The only difference was the size of the image and file. It IS interesting to see that there actually is a pretty big difference, but I agree with what you are saying.

What a fantastic shot. Huge congrats on the Red, and if I find out who gave this a 1, I'm going to take them out back and do things to them they haven't dreamed possible.

What a really nice comment. Thanks so much for the vote and the thoughts. I really appreciate it

Oh, DARN, Miles!!! DARN ! Well, I just read thru the comments, and I'm very happy to see that you have such a great perspective on the whole DQ thing. It really IS about the beauty of this phenomenal photo and what its significance is to your family. I had a ribbon disqualified once because I unknowingly did something illegal in editing; then recently had one disqualified but it ended up getting reinstated, but I took the whole DQ process harder than you. Can I be you when I grow up????? :)

Just keep sharing these amazing works of art with us! We will all grow from your work!

Thanks Sandy! Yes you can be me when you grow up :)

It's no big deal, really. I was thrilled with the ribbon, but easy come, easy go. This image accomplished what I was hoping it would, so I'm really happy with it!
