Gypsy Girlby NacoComment: Thanks a lot for your nice comments. The photo seems to have been very well received, both technically and artistically on different media, including iStock. The sepia toning makes a huge difference, this is definitely one of those photos requiring desaturation before anything else; the other elements make the powerful composition. |

Pianissimoby labudsComment: Excellent composition, great lighting, beautiful girl, one suggestion: I believe this wonderful image would have been even more powerful should she have worn a musical note shaped ear ring. |

And miles to go before I sleep ...by jbsmithanaComment: I would have probably waited until the skier got closer to the top of the ridge. I would have also recomposed it for his trails to fall somewhat diagonally with the new framing, yet keeping the same background. You would have then introduced two powerful elements into your composition: the line and the conceptual message behind it: you know…achievement, goal, attitude, etc. |

Lincoln MKT Conceptby NacoComment: Thank you guys for your nice comments. This car and the rest in the series were taken during the 2009 North American Auto Show in Detroit, MI. Photographing this car was quite a challenge: not only that the light was reflecting all over from the ceiling light fixtures but it was also placed on a continuously rotating stand. Furthermore I spent quite some time trying to figure out the best spot where people wouldn’t interfere while shooting. I noticed the overexposed spot on the roof top but honestly it didn’t bothered me much since after all it seems to be nicely contrasting with the rest of the image – in terms of lighting. You can see the whole series here or here.
The editing was absolutely minimal: white balance correction, sharpness and spot removal (using the clone tool) for some scattered light reflections on the fender and stop lights - all done in Photoshop CS4. I had to be extremely careful shooting the originals since I also submitted photos for the photo competition and unlike most places they didn’t allow ANY post processing. You can see the original version on the NAIAS web site.
