Texture From The Seaby chickadeezlComment: Delicate in both color and texture. The image would have been better served by a full on capture with a subtle fade to the edges rather than the odd offset and questionable DOF used. This approach would have allowed for enhancing the pleasure of viewing such a simple, delicate object. |

Rough and smooth.by David NewlandComment: A very good treatment of texture of nature. A little less light or exposure would have made the image pop right out of the screen. The complimentary background is a plus. A solid effort. |

Strawberryby CyrgComment: The author had a great idea and concept. Unfortunately, the image falls short of the overall idea as the image isn't clean with an odd DOF. It might have helped to back off in focal length to capture more area, then crop out the sharpest area for presentation. The lighting didn't help either producing unattractive light blooms. |

Behind the Beautyby LouisaComment: Excellant control of green complimented by the yellow flowers. Wonderful and varied texture viewed at a unigue angle. The offset and image angle are very complimentary. Overall an excellant effort and a challanger for a top ten finish if not a ribbon. |

Natures Handby Mark-AComment: Good control of the color and background. Interesting features on the leaves demonstrating texture in nature. A little short of having an immediate visual impact - the image seems to lack purpose and intent. |

Paper linesby IreneMComment: A pleasing blend of color and an interesting offset which is very effective. This might have been improved by using better lighting as there is a slight grain that is annoying - not quite as crisp and sharp as it could be. A good effort. |

Lead Handby QuigleyComment: A good effort, but the subject leads the eye away from the pleasing textures and interesting details of the stone wall and wood. A good black and white conversion. |

Birds of a Feather . . .by whitewolfComment: Very abstract in concept and execution. It could have used a little more focus as the fine detail of the barbs are lost in the overall neutral color tone of the image when viewed normally on a monitor. Standing back from the image improves it's over all impact significantly which would indicate that a more macro style lens would have been a better choice. |

Anodized Threadsby bcenuComment: The author has taken a unigue look at a common object and used a very different DOF technique to express texture. It's a perfect step towards the top with a sharp begining at the bottom, a slight fade and subtle tonal shift followed by another followed by another. The use of grain to help create the effect is very clever. The polychromic color cast is also a plus. This should place high as it's a very interesting image. Well done. |

One Mean Dudeby karmatComment: The author has a good eye for shape, color and combining the two into an effective image. The slight offset with a complimentary background offers a pleasing image to the eye and is entirely within the contraints of the challenge with variable shapes containing their own detail. Well done. |
