Colored Cobblesby PaulComment: A case where the central focus works and the side to side DOF if effective in bringing out the colors. A good entry into the challenge and worthy of consideration. |

parrotby reezyComment: The cage could have been used more effectively with a closer shot. The author could also have adjusted for the cage by creating a frame for the image of texture concentrating on the silver feathers. A good concept just a little shy of being interesting. |

Hide and Seekby pollypanda2000Comment: A confused image lacking context with respect to the challenge. The grainy effect does not assist this image in any way. A snapshot quality image which isn't bad, but not up to the specifications of the challenge. |

Macrame Messby canigirlComment: Not as effective as it could be, but it does demonstrate the nature of natural fiber texture. An interesting concept just a little short on execution. |

Lacinta Kaleby signal2noiseComment: If the author had used DOF preview, the need for a little better composition would have been self evident. The intent is there, the image just lacks in execution because of the lost details in the soft focus areas. A little more thought and concentration would have produced a clear favorite for a top ten finish. |

Hard Fiberby harkonenComment: Interesting use of DOF to create a sharp image from corner to corner with subtle soft focus on the opposite corner. The little black framing top and bottom serve this image well. A very interesting side effect of the way the image is presented is of a trapazoid even though the image is straight - a very effective treatment and one that needs further exploration by the author. If this were a challenge for Unigue View, this would be a sure bet for a ribbon. As it is, it's a good entry into the challenge - forthright and purposeful. |

Cracked Skinby spistoleComment: A lack of DOF control hurts this image which would otherwise be a ribbon contender. A little more attention to the details of a macro shot would have improved this image tremendously. |

Conesby EgillPComment: The soft focus works well with this as it is, but a sharper image would bring out the excellant detail and interesting shapes against the perfect background. A good solid entry into the challenge. |

kale and hardyby dbeauComment: Clever title exactly matching the impression left by the image. The subtle light and detail of the leaf against the plain background is inspired - can't think of a better way to do it. Well done and a clear contender for a top ten if not a ribbon. |

A Bagpiper's Chinby HighNoonerComment: Intense and beautiful - plenty of diffeent textures and detail. Unfortunate that the red on the bag pipe is just a touch overdone. That particular section also appears to be over done color saturation wise. A good solid entry into the challenge. |
