The subject has the feeling of being upside down. A slight halo effect which could be the result of over sharpening in an attempt to help the image. The soft focus in the wrong areas work against this being as good as it could have been.

Smooth can be texture by definition and this image demonstrates that very well. Unfortunately, the overly dark rocks hurt the image - this might have worked better if converted to black and white and then adjusted using the zone system. A good effort.

Subtle color cast and the very hard to capture whites. A slight crop of the left cutting out the background would have enhanced this image. The linear aspects of the cart frames combined with the variable shape of the snow work well. A good solid effort meeting the specification of the challenge.

A terrific conversion richly detailed making for a impressive presentation. The various forms and shapes are are intriguing and the combination of linear door and benches against the more figured wall makes a good combination. Demonstrates the variable nature of texture. A good solid effort.

Spring Thaw

The lighting was not the friend of this intriguing image. Shooting into the light produced some odd features and ever so subtle over exposed whites. A possible solution would have been to use a fill flash technique to bring out the various hues, color and linear/curves textures of the background to the pine cone. A good effort just a little shy on the execution.

Outstanding image and a favorite so far. Strong and purposeful human figure indicating the elements of hard work as evidenced by the texture of the hand skin contrasting with the more linear hair on the forearm. A wonderful concept and excellant execution. Not a favorite, but very close. Well done.

Grain without being grainy - a very intriguing concept. The blank sky hurts the image by being over stark and contrasty. It would be difficult to suggest a better crop because it would ruin the overall effect.

Soft and figured the subject is lit correctly. A better image would have produced zero DOF allowing for more detail and capturing the change in curvature of the petals. A interesting effect with the smooth surface, curves and clear round water drops. A good entry with respect to the challenge parameters.

Interesting mix of texture and color, but the washed out over lit background affects the subject in a negative way. A good concept a little short on execution.

The author's intent is plain from the title, unfortunately, the uber soft focus doens't meet the title's expectations. The image, while soft, isn't delicate as the title could imply - it requires more detail in particular with the object in the back ground which assumedly is a cat.
