Simple and very provacative the varying textures and simple color tone control make this an outstanding entry into the challenge. A worthy contender for a top ten finish and a potential ribbon contender. Well done.

A perfect idea with just a few minor flaws. The odd lighting angle slightly washed out the bottom images in comparison to the top - the author may have intended this, but it just quite doesn't make the image more interesting. The benefit of the doubt much be part of the deliberation and in this case, the benefit goes to the author. Well done.

The unfortunate white highlights are a defect that negatively impacts the image and it's intent. A little less exposure and a little closer focal length would have eliminated the branches in the foreground which are distrracting and do nothing to enhance this image.

A clever juxtaposition of different textures and if the image had a little more color and less contrast, it would have been a top ten challenger if only because of the unique subject matter.

Comment:
An excellant example of how to control light in highly reflective conditions. The snow is not overly white and the author avoided the temptation to add a overly blue cast to the snow to bring out it's features. A solid entry into the challenge.

Perhaps the author intended something unusual which is not being properly addressed in this composition. It is so out of the norm that normal would seem to be outrageous. Given the subject matter of the challenge, this just doesn't make sense.

Wisdoms Texture

Comment:
The gentle monotone effect with subtle whites and the subject's natural grain make this a sure fire top ten image and should be a solid, if not actual, ribbon winner. A terrific composition showing the natural texture of natural wood. Well done.

A clever use of different materials to create a out of the box composition, but it fails to properly address the subject challenge. The joke might have worked a little better if the lighting had been better controlled.
