Over The Bridgeby C4PicturesComment: A nice crisp, sharp image in which an unfortunate crop or capture with the extreme offset ruins the overall impact and all the non-engine space is distracting. From a technical standpoint, this is as good as it gets, but artistically, it fails to impart any sense of being about trains, etc. A good solid try, just falls a little short. |

The train tunnel bluesby bobccComment: Woulda, coulda, shoulda - the whites are just ever so over the edge which make it flawed technically, but from an artistic standpoint, this is a terrific image. For future reference, if the white blooms were turned down a little, the overall impact of this image would make it a top ten finisher and potential ribbon winnner. |

Porter 1924by Links 2 3 4Comment: A great angle and an unforced detail, this is in every sense a technical and artistic success. The perfect DOF control, crisp and sharp focus and excellant conversion to black and white make this a very worthy entry into the challenge and potentially a top ten finisher. |

Along the Endless Railsby ErikVComment: A technical success and an artistic success, although a little less of a forced angle would have improved the image dramatically. A little more direct angle to the train would have eliminated the rather undramatic left side of the image and would have created much more impact. A worthy entry into the challange. |

Holding It Togetherby karmatComment: A technical success from a capture standpoint, this image could have used a little more dramatic treatment in terms of tone. A different look at the subject matter and one worthy of consideration as a top twenty five image. |

Last train leaves at 12:15 a.m.by maggiedddComment: Outstanding technical effort and a artistic success. Clever use of time and space to create a static yet dynamic sense of movement. There aren't any major flaws to speak of - a very worthy entry into the challenge. Certainly a top twenty image. |

NOKL 964556by JeniYComment: Simple and effective, the sky could have used a little more treatment increasing the dramatic nature of this image. A very nice grayscale image, it does suffer a little bit from being flat in tone. A little more use of the zone system in adjusting brightness and contrast would have helped a lot. A good solid entry into the challenge. |

Evening Arrivalby javakillsComment: An odd capture that has some technical merit, but from an artistic standpoint does not quite match. A longer tracking shot would have helped this in a lot of ways. A larger image evoking a sense of speed, space and time would also have helped. A good entry into the challenge. |

Thomas rides againby ReinerComment: Works for me - properly framed, good DOF control and the immediate impression is whimsical without being over bearing. Nothing jumps immediately to the eye as out of place and the colors compliment the foreground and background. Well done and a solid entry into the challenge because of it's technical and artistsic success. |
