Excellant conversion to black and white - the highlights are just on the edge of being excessive. Crisp and sharp which is a major plus. The little details like the engineer in the cab and conductor are also a major plus. Lots of details, good angle which could have been a little higher, but it fine as it is. The author took time to do the best job in difficult lighting. This should be a top ten entry and a possible ribbon contender. Very well done.

A little less effective than it could be. From a technical perspective, it works, but the blank white space of the sky gives the impression of being flat and detracts from the image's impact. This might have worked better if the subject had been a little closer giving some important details that are missing. The unfortunate fade of the subject's head into the sky is a flaw that is immediately noticable. A really good idea that needed some thought and more composition time. A good entry into the challenge.

Very time warpish, a good demonstration of how to do an SFx shot. Every aspect is lightly affected by motion but still giving a lot of detail, depth and interest. The color could be a little more saturated to increase it's overall impact, but it is effective as it is. This should be a top ten entry and possibly a ribbon contender. Well done.

If image were a little less dark showing a little more detail, it could very well be a great advertisement. Unfortunately, a great idea and composition is flawed by it's unclear nature. The image appears flat and not particularly interesting in terms of color. It might have helped to use a little better aperature control - it's almost as if this is a straight auto shot which is never a good idea in this kind of light. A good idea just short of being a great image.
