Old #1by eaglebeckComment: A good effort, this imae is just slightly out of focus which distorts the extreme details that are viewable. The lighting choice is unfortunate because of the occasional halos cast along the more linear shapes. Just short of being a technical and artistic success, a little more time in composing the image would have been a plus. At it is, a good entry into the challenge. |

Oldby PabloComment: The rather odd choice of color cast is only a plus to this wonderfully detailed and composed image. There are no major flaws making it both a completel technical and artistic success. The author should be proud of this image in every way. Well done. |

Trainby SEGComment: From a technical standpoint, this is a terrific effort - crisp, sharp with everything detail well controlled and captured. From an artistic standpoint, it's rather bland and uninviting to the viewer. It might have been better to approach this from a higher view along the train or even a slightly different angle along the horizontal axis. It's unfortunate that a technically perfect image is flawed by a common, average approach. A good effort falling short in the artistic sense. |

Tireless Workhorseby dswannComment: From a technical standpoint, this is a terrific effort - crisp, sharp with everything detail well controlled and captured. From an artistic standpoint, it's rather bland and uninviting to the viewer because it's a very common angle to take a machinery image from. Sometimes an image, even one as technically competant as this one is, is just an image. A worthy entry into the challenge and directly related to the challenge subject. A good effort falling short in the artistic sense. |

Twoby MelethiaComment: Long linear shots like this are difficult to capture properly and the author has done well to handle both the concept and lighting properly and very effectively. The highlights are right on the edge, but the conversion to black and white more than make up for it. A great demonstration of how space is properly handled giving a sense of dimension and unusually time. Very well done - a potential top ten image and ribbon winner. |

Heavy Rail vs. Light Railby cdriceComment: Similar to an earlier entry (one might suspect that this is the same image only taken at night), this is a very effective image. The highlights are just on the edge of being overdone, the lighting is subtle and effective and the color reflections are simple and elegant. The compare and contrast between the modern and post-modern is extremely effective and the way this is presented, much more visualy appealing than the earlier image. A top ten contender and a possible ribbon winner. |

The Kiss on the Bridgeby ronaldfwComment: Effective, technically perfect and very appealing in an artistic sense. Well tought out with a few minor issues not even worth mentioning. Should be a ribbon contender - nothing more to say - a ten and worth every single point. |

No. 16by AzrifelComment: From a technical standpoint, this is a terrific effort - crisp, sharp with everything detail well controlled and captured. From an artistic standpoint, it's also very effective. Personal choice would have been to have less steam obscuring the front of the engine, but it works just fine as it is. A worthy entry into the challenge and directly related to the challenge subject. A good effort being a technical and artistic success. |
