Step into the Lightby kyenComment: A good effort not properly thought through - the white space is over done and does not compliment the subject or the transition to darker shades. The stark contrast between the background the foreground is also a negative. |

Lady Bugby libertyComment: Natural light in a macro setting, it's hard to complain about anything concerning the lighting - the image, yes, but the lighting no. Well done. |

River Glowby shollingComment: Natural lighting, the highlights are slightly over the edge. The light ray effect is very effective and a plus. The overdark foreground could have treated better with more light, but the image works as a lighting demonstration and the effects one can obtain by careful composition. Well done. |

Through the treesby gysComment: Soft natural lighting make this a very effective image and the subject's complexion only enhances the effect. The soft well controlled and lighted background does not overpower the lighting demonstration. Unfortunately, the top of the image is a distraction as it is slightly over the edge and distracting. A solid entry into the challenge. |

Unfoundby PaulComment: While not a complete demonstration of lighting, the fisheye effect is excellant and the lighting angle increases the overall impact of the image from an emotional standpoint. The interesting angles of light from the direct in your face effect of the background to the light coming from the side is very effective. A good and different demonstration of natural lighting to enhance the impact of an image. |

Golden Sunflowerby photojoe1Comment: The light on this subject is over balanced to the left and with the offset subject, creates a slightly negative effect on the viewer. The lighting is not well controlled as there are light blooms and color fades which is probably the result of relying on the camera's spot meter to set the image parameters. A little more thought and positioning, plus the use of a light meter would have helped. |

Flying Tigerby CorySmithComment: A practical demonstration of back lighting and how to control it. Every detail is well exposed and highlights are absent demonstrating the author knows well how to properly use ambient light to the maximum effect. Well done. |

Little Bee Eaterby scooter88Comment: Natural light and good shade control - a little less impressive that it should be because of the blank background. Some detail would have helped demonstrate total light control. There are some highlights along the birds body which are a negative an unfortunate reflective by product of the birds feather spurs. A good entry into the challenge. |

Laserby HepciComment: Manufactured light in a dark setting - long exposure that isn't quite as crisp as one would expect. The overuse of dark space detracts from the laser image and the red frame creates some confusion in viewing. A good entry into the challenge, it falls just short of demonstrating the use of light for a purpose. |

Awaiting Her Callby zifengwComment: The dramatic movement from dark to light is impressive and extremely effective in this setting. Well thought out, crisp, clear and sharp, the image is emotionally powerful and demonstrates how natural lighting is used to evoke emotion. Not a single flaw. Well done. |
