shadow of a doubtby klkitchensComment: Inventive, the shadow could have used more direct back lighting to make the doubt clearer and more effective with respect to the title. A softer light might have helped reduce the highlights and made the image a more appropriate demonstration of lighting control. |

Penlight Series - Lily #2by ti_evomComment: Soft and gentle lighting on a soft and gentle subject. A great demonstration of how to control all aspects of macro photography as the image does not have any shadows and the subject is sharp and crisp. A very worthy challenge entry. |

Illuminated Spiderby brtamanComment: A sound image highly detailed and properly lighted. A technical success, it demonstrates proper camera and light control in a macro image. Well done. |

Sunday Rideby paperpagesComment: The comparision between light and shadow is good, but the image fails to impact the viewer in any way other than being a good snap shot. A more natural, full body shot showing the contrast between a well light model and the shadow would have been a better choice. |

Plastic chairs in the rainby aznymComment: A very effective night shot unfortunately affected by light blooms that aren't in focused and the over done light bloom on the ones that are in focus. A litte better control of ISO and ambient light would have helped to improve this image. Artistically a success, it is just shy of being a technical success. |

Ruby Falls - Underground Wonderby idnicComment: Uneven lighting created a challenge for the author and it falls just shy of being a technical success. A better crop and more concentration on the lower half of the image with a better crop, including cropping out the spot light, would have been a better choice. |

Gothicby DistantColoursComment: The use of light as the subject is inspired and unique in this challenge. A little softer treatment would have been a plus, but it is very effective as it is. A good and creative demonstration of the use of light as the subject. Well done. |

Red Pandaby landon1013Comment: The natural lighting on the subject is a little overdone leading to an awkward transition from light to dark. The lighter shade on the tree limb is distracting and does not enhance the image in any way. A little more thought into the composition would have produced a more effective image. |

Warmth and colourby burtctComment: The background light is very effective and provides an ethereal effect on the color feather. A very good demonstration of how this type of lighting is used. A little over done in one area, but the soft glow is important to the overall impact of the image. Well done - a worthy entry into the challenge and a potential top twenty. |

Camera Obscura [Roots]by missbellComment: A sound demonstration of natural lighting against a figured subject is a good demonstation of the effective use of natural light. The transition from light to shade is well controlled and very smooth. A solid entry into the challenge. |
