More an image of lighting than a creative use of lighting. It's hard to rate this because of it's nature. It might have been a better approach to find a subject and then use the lighting to create the image rather than of the light itself.

While the use of natural light is very effective, it falls somewhat short of of being a creative use of light. It might have been a more effective and interesting image if the author had concentrated on the shadows and edges of the petals rather than the flower as a whole.

The difference between an image of light and a creative use of light is perfectly demonstrated in this wonderful mood piece. The author has created a terrific mood piece demonstrating grace and style with minimum lighting accenting the gentle curves and graceful colors of burning candles. This an exceptional image in this challenge and should be a ribbon contender.

An effective and dramatic image, the slight highlights and subtle lighting, while technically perfect, isn't necessarily "creative" rather than a demonstration of as a "how to". If this were a different challenge, it would be a sure ribbon winner. However, there is nothing overly creative in this image and as such rates lower than it should - it really is a terrific image, just wrong place at the wrong time.
