Time lapse is all about lighting and capturing what light is available to create a certain look and this certainly meets the challenge criteria in fine fashion. Well done.

Unique and purposeful, this entry is a clear demonstration of how to use lighting in a creative way. While not a particularly interesting image, it does demonstrate how to use lighting to create mood and simple effects that are visually pleasing to the eye. A great demonstration of lighting and it's effects on a closed environment. The author might have done a little better if a longer focal length was used to include the subject's shadow or a little higher angle to provide some depth and dimension. Still, a worthy entry into the challenge and a cut above the other entries that did not meet the challenge criteria. Well done.

With the whites right on the edge, the dramatic and detailed sky, clear crisp imagery demonstrating a knowledge of how light affects an image - a worthy entry into the challenge and so far above the average entry in this challenge it's in a whole other class. While not exactly a typical challenge entry, this author strived to be different and succeeded in doing so. A very clever use of positioning and being in the right place at the right time, the ball of the sun balancing on the top of the cooling tower (assumed that's what it was) is unique and using the sun as the lighting subject while providing the light used is certainly a creative use of lighting and meets the challenge subject squarely. This is an image that could have gone horribly wrong and instead went perfectly right. It could be a little smaller to enhance the effect of the sun's position, but it's certainly acceptable as it is and clearly a cut above the average entry into this challenge. The author should be proud of this image - well done.

It's a hard subject challenge and this reviewer is having just as hard of a time properly rating images in the challenge. The meet a creative lighting challenge, it is necessary to approach the subject matter in a unique fashion and this image accomplishes that nicely. The subtle tones and transition from light to dark is simply stunning demonstrating the proper use of lighting in a creative way that many others have failed to grasp. Sure to be a sure top ten image - it's spectacular, well controlled and very dramatic which if all was right in the world, would make it a ribbon winner.

Sometimes a challenge provides a method to stretch the author's concepts and abilities in meeting subjective criteria. In this case, clearly the author thought it out and composed an outstanding image using standard macro techniques adding artistic offset and a different use of DOF to create what is viewed by this reviewer as simply perfect. From the nicely rounded effect of the magnifying glass frame to the detail in the leather material to the clever use of lighting to keep a smooth even tonal quality to the color this is an example of thinking out side the box and a brilliant use of everyday material to create a spectacular image. This should be a ribbon winner if not the top prize. Well done.

Having said all that however, this is a spectacular image and in any other setting and/or challenge would be a sure top ten image - it's spectacular, well controlled and very dramatic.
