Old Manby masd3n1Comment: Sometimes the image so matches the challenge subject that speechless is the only comment one can make if one uses a loose definition of "creative" which would be inspired - this is certainly in the inspired category. The rich color and detail is remarkable and highlighted perfectly. This reviewer can find enough superlatives to describe the pure raw emotion and impact of this image. Wonderful is inadequate, brilliant portraiture come close. A favorite to win a ribbon. |

Dreamsby morzillaComment: Less than a creative use of lighting. It's hard to rate this because of it's nature. As an entry into a different challenge, this would be a difficult image to beat given it's gentle and soft, yet detailed appearance. The author might have done better to use some backlight to create other effects. |

To Guide You Homeby mazlimComment: This was a very different look at lighting and the use of lighting - a well thought out and captured composition that exactly matches the challenge subject. While the image could be much more crisp and sharp, it serves the soft lighting well. Not a top contender, but certainly a top twenty for the inventive use of lighting and subject matter. |

empty sea under hte bridgeby el3radiiComment: More a image of lighting than a creative use of lighting. It's hard to rate this because of it's nature. It might have been a better approach to find a subject and then use the lighting to create the image rather than of the light itself. |

Daisyweilerby dirtythermosComment: This reviewer is always up for a good laugh and the humor demonstrated in this image is outstanding - even it it doesn't QUITE match the challenge subject. In fact, this reviewer likes this so much, it's going on the print wish list just for the fact that it's funny, it has light and who cares - a solid ten just for the break from all the mundane images being ploughed through. Well done. |

Never look evil in the eyeby JudiComment: Another excellant image that it a cut above the other portrait entries in this challenge. A true masterpiece, the menace and threatning imagery provided by the offset visage and lighting is simply a brilliant choice. The transition from light to dark is smooth and barely noticable and the monotone treatment only enhances what the author has done with the lighting. Well done and a true potential ribbon winner.
PS: It was very noticable to this viewer that the model in this image is somewhat amused by the drama - if you look close enough and combine the lip line with the "evil eye", you can see clearly that the model is about to bust out laughing after trying very hard to project a eeeevvvvviiiiillll presence. Highly amusing. |

Tropicby BJokerudComment: A good demonstration of how lighting can be used to create a special effect - it matches the challenge in every respect because both the subject and the lighting is used in a creative fashion to capture a mood piece that, while not in rare terrority, it at least a cut above other entries. This image sparks the imagination which is what lighting is all about. Well done. |

Coloring With Lightby oh_insane_oneComment: Clever and inventive, this is a different look at how lighting can be used to enhance an everyday object and make it different. Unfortunately, the image isn't as crisp and sharp as it should be giving a slightly unfocused look which is annoying - the author would have done better to properly focus the image, but given the soft nature of the light used, that would have been difficult. Having said that, it does meet the challenge criteria perfectly and as such, a cut above the less than stellar entries into this challenge. Well done. |
