While a good image, the author might have chosen to use the available lighting to create an effect rather than just a image that is actually of snapshot quality. A little more thought would have helped as there are possibilities in this image other than the one that was chosen.

While a clever concept, unfortunately the image of the mechanical bug isn't clear enough to make the image truly effective or have any significant impact on the viewer. A little more concentration on the lighting effect giving the whole image some more definition would have been a plus. A good entry into the challenge.

An interesting look at lighting and while not necessarily meeting the challenge criteria, it certainly is gifted and demonstrates how lighting is properly used. It's a good entry into the challenge and while not in top ten competition, it is a top twenty image. The author might have tried to light the subject from the bottom which would have produced some interesting results.

Imaginative and clever, this image clearly meets the challenge criteria. Having said that, there is something missing it's just not clear what it is to make this a truly outstanding image. It may be that the left side curve is cut off or that the light bloom is slightly over the edge near the lip of the glass, but it just not quite there to make it a ribbon contender. A top twenty image certainly.

A difficult shot to pull of in the best of circumstances, this is a creative use of lighting, unfortunately it falls just short of being really effective. The overdone flash created a cartoonish effect on the palm and detracts from the rather dramatic sky. A softer flash, perhaps through a gause screen or a light reducer would have been a better choice. A good solid effort though and it clearly meets the challenge criteria.

Imaginative ues of natural light, this ethereal image is a very good demonstration of how to use natural light to it's best advantage and creative in the sense that it captured the light and it's effects in a natural setting perfectly. An excellant entry into the challenge and worthy of a top ten placement.
