Lightingby bjprasadComment: More a image of lighting than a creative use of lighting. It's hard to rate this because of it's nature. It might have been a better approach to find a subject and then use the lighting to create the image rather than of the light itself. |

Sunbeamby Len ScapComment: This reviewer has viewed this image four times trying to get an handle on how this image could be rated in terms of creative. It's extremely hard to develop an opinion that makes sense if only because of the nature of the lighting and how it affected the image. Benefit of the doubt to the author on this as it is an effective use of concentrated ambient light creating a mood that is unusual for something as simple as a sculpture. Well done - it should be a top ten image. |

In Studioby zackdezonComment: Very effective, the image is creative because of the inclusion of the lighting gear, the effective use of background and the attractive model doing what models do best. No major flaws to speak of, this is above average and clearly superior to 90% of the entries in this challenge. Well done. |

High Key African Daisies by crikComment: Richly detailed with incredible detail, the soft lighting worked well in this image. Unfortunately, the lighting isn't creative in any sense. Having said that, it is a unbelievable demonstration of HOW to light an image rather than a creative use of lighting. That's what makes this image so very hard to properly evaluate and rate - it's perfect in terms of technical and artistic success, but the lighting is unknown and not particularly special in the sense of being "creative". Benefit of the doubt to the author - well done. |

Swan Lake by bubaiComment: More a image of lighting than a creative use of lighting. It's hard to rate this because of it's nature. It might have been a better approach to find a subject and then use the lighting to create the image rather than of the light itself. An example of this would be to crop to just the reflection to create a certain ambience which would have been very effective. A good effort falling just short of being a sound entry into the challenge. |

Weaver Of Red Silkby KarlJohnstonComment: A view of natural world lighting that is not normally seen in the southern latitudes. Interesting treatment with the red foreground providing some contrast. A very interesting starfield demonstrating the nature of physical light thousands of light years old. A stong, purposeful image using the natural world as it's playground. Extremely creative and should be a top ten image if not a ribbon winner. |

Reflected Refracted Recorded by scotthadlComment: Rich in detail with indirect lighting that affects both the subject and the background. It's not often that this reviewer is left without something to say or have an opinion about something or other than detracts from an image's overall quality - this is simply perfect and a terrific demonstration of creative lighting making a simple object into a special effect. Well done - a worthy entry and one that should place well if not win a ribbon. |

Sinusesby LadyQuixoticComment: Another unique look and an effective use of lighting, the image is not necessarily a sound composition. It might have been more effective if the author concentrated on the shadow and not on the offset subject. Having said that, it is a demonstration of how to use front lighting at an angle to create a special effect. |

Eightby -Bec-Comment: Similar to a a couple of earlier images, this is a smooth easy transition using side lighting to good effect. While not exactly applicable to the challenge criteria, it is a good demonstration of how to achieve a certain look using differently angled lighting - a technical success. From a strict artistic viewpoint it has some major flaws including what looks like a black eye and the light blooms in the eyes. A good entry into the challenge from several aspects out weigh the flaws. Good job. |
