Crisp and sharp, a candid moment between two friends demonstrates the very nature of candid. A completel technical success, the natural stance and appearance of the subjects is an artistic plus. While the image appears to be slightly over sharpened, it isn't. It might have helped to reframe the image slightly to one side of the other, but it works just fine as it is. Well done.

Beautiful, simple and very elegant, there is nothing more to be said. One of the best images in this challenge without a doubt. Originally, this viewer thought it was slightly over exposed giving it a nine, but on review, this view was clearly in error and is rerated a 10. A complete technical and artistic success. Very well done candid - this should, by rights, by a blue ribbon contender. Well done.

A very candid image that appears posed, but isn't - the natural and unforced smile indicating a sense of fun and mischief is a very positive effect. Unfortunately, a great candid capture is every so slightly over exposed leading to an unnatural washed out appearance. The image also seems slightly under focused. Still a good effort and with a little more time, would have been a 10. Well done.

A very natural image evoking earlier and simpler times. The image is crisp and sharp and the excellant conversion makes it technically perfect. It is also artistically impressive, but falls just short of having a totally positive effect. Having said that, it should place very well, if not a ribbon contender.

A very fresh and different image in this challenge, the subject caught in a very candid moment - one can imagine the stories being told and the effect on a inviduals life. A terrific image and very good spur of the moment capture.

Crisp and sharp, a very casual and candid moment is perfectly captured. The conversion is perfect and the intricate details are very impressive. On first pass review, this viewer thought there was a flaw in the image, but on comment review, that was a incorrect impression allowing for a rerating to a 10. This could very well be a ribbon winner. Well done.

Unforced imagery is always a plus and this appears to be very natural and unforced. It might have been better to get a little tighter in on the subject and eliminate a large portion of the wall, but it works as is. The focus seems a little softer than it should be which may be a by-product of the black and white conversion or maybe decompression from RAW. It's not immediately noticable though so that's a plus. A very good candid portrait and certainly a top twenty image if not a top ten. Well done.

Comment:
The contrasting scale of the little one and the steps during a candid moment is a great capture. One issue with this image keeping it from being rated as a 10 is that the image is overally tall - it might have been better to crop the top steps off to the top at the second steps to help focus on the child. As it is, it's a very effective image and worth every point of a nine. A potential top ten, this is most certainly a top fifteen image and depending on other raters, maybe a ribbon. Well done.

The overall grayscale approach to this was originally viewed as a negative and a rating of 9, but on comment review, this viewer has rethought the original reaction and rerated it to a 10. While not quite to the standard set by other images in this challenge, it is a totally casual moment of tranquility and friendship between the subject and his dog. The angle is very good and impacts a sense of depth not normally seen in images of this tonal range. Both an artistic and technical success this should be a top twenty image if not a top ten. Well done.

Natural candid captures are very hard to pull off in particular from the angle the author chose. This is a very effective image and conversion - the author has a good sense for zone system images and demonstrates it here. On original rating review, this image was rated a 9, but on comment review, the technical and artistic excellance justifies rerating to a 10. A top ten image and potential ribbon contender. Well done.
