A solid image that is properly framed and composed with appropriately detailed subject matter - a couple of minor technical issues like the reflections in the eyes and the soft fade on the right do not impact the image in a major way - a technical success with minor flaws. The narrow center focus technique used in this image is becoming more common in these challenges, but in this case, is effective used. Rich detail, effectively controlled lighting, the visual impact is strong. A solid entry into the challenge, it should be a top ten image and possibly a ribbon contender. Well done.

A solid image in concept that could have used a wider angle lens and a little longer focus. From an artistic standpoint, it is an interesting image but of less than universal appeal. A competant grayscale conversion. A good entry into the challenge.

A good image that is crisp, sharp and properly framed and composed with some minor technical issues like the over done bloom which affects the image by forcing a lens flare - they sometimes work and sometimes they don't. From an artistic standpoint, it is an intersting image but of less than universal appeal due to it's overly dark nature. A good entry into the challenge.

From an artistic standpoint, it has significant impact with rich color and with excellant detail in the foreground. This image would have worked as a black and white as well, but the treatment used is incredibly effective.
