On a third viewing, this reviewer can't quite explain why this image has such appeal, but it does. There's nothing out of place, the effect of the tans and browns are very pleasing, the glass is properly in place and appropriately offset, the bokeh isn't over done being just vague enough to show details - everything seems just right for some reason, yet this reviewer is uneasy rating it as high as allowed. That being said, there is nothing for it but to commit to a high score, but not quite as high as a perfect 10 - well done.

Sometimes an image can be so subtle that it fails to convey what the author was attempting to capture. This is the case in this image - the idea doesn't come across readily even after several viewings. Additionally, the image is a less than successful conversion being rather flat and this effect is enhanced by the extreme distance and bokeh of the subjects in the background. A little more time and thought into how the author wanted to express the idea would have helped clarify the central theme - which even to this point is lost to the reviewer.

Now this is what the reviewer has been waiting for - a perfect combination of movement and still imagery, it would be simply unacceptable to do any commentary allowing the image to speak for it'self. Very inventive and clever in concept, a perfect execution of a clever idea. Well done - by rights a top ten image if not a ribbon.

A very pleasant still life with matching and complimentary glass reflections, perfectly centered and exposed with just on the edge white highlights in the candles. While it appears to be just a little under exposed, the gentle candle light on the wine basket indicates that the author took the time to think out the image and properly expose it in the camera. A little nice touch that may not be immediately noticable is the glow of the candle wax - it helps illuminate the basket and properly highlight the pleasing shape of the table napkins. A wonderful set piece, the author might want to make a print using canvass as the exposure medium rather than film - this would be a very nice impressionist photograph when presented in that manner. Well done - should place high if not a ribbon.

Comment:
Common everyday objects with golden tone and balanced red color set nicely into the pleasing brown/tan table and background. Nothing is out of place and the reflections through the vinegar class are very pleasing to the eye invoking a sense of time and space. A very competant image and something more unique than a simple reflection capture. Very minimalist in concept and execution. Well done.

A different use of bokeh and a very effective one. The pleasing tones and gentle colors are very effective and there aren't any major parallax problems with the ice or straw in the glass. A very competant image that is pleasing to the eye. Well done.

Comment:
The overdone lighting and rather flat appearance of this image is a significant negative in what otherwise would have been an acceptable image. While the meme of the double image seems to be a major theme in this challenge, this could have been viewed as unique if time had been taken to properly expose the subjects with reduced lighting or even natural lighting.

Comment:
Good detail and excellant bokeh make this an effective image. The subject is richly detailed and although the feet are out of focus, it still is a very detailed and effective image. While technically competant, the artistic impact isn't quite as effective being a fairly common close up view of a recently hatched chick. Still, a good entry into the challenge meeting the challenge criteria.

Comment:
A very intriguing concept here with the table cloth reflecting odd lighting effects off the window - a major plus to the artistic impact of the image. The rather simple place setting along with the off set wine glass, imparts a rather natural and candid impression. A very interesting reflection on the left that seems to be out of place is also interesting and not readily visible at first. A very competant capture using all the available natural effects at once. Well done.

Comment:
A little more bokeh and about an 1/8th crop off the top to reduce the overly blank and unappealing sky would have significantly helped this image. The crisp and sharp details, including the parallax distortion of the straw, are a great contribution to the overall effect. A good entry into the challenge.
