weary bluesby GnarfComment: It took a while to get the idea, but after four views, it finally penetrated this very thick skull. Different and unique - a minimalist image that is very effective, but needs more than one view to get the concept. Subtle lighting and the very slight blue cast to the image could be seen as overly subtle, but to this reviewer it works. Even though this reviewer liked the image on first view, it did take four views to fully understand why. Not sure if that is good or bad. Well done. |

Night Life in Malaccaby soonComment: Perfect motion capture on the ferris wheel, rich in detail and color. The slightly over done whites are not a negative and in fact actually help the image by giving some idea of the level of dark. A very interesting flare effect in the spotlight midway on the right side of the image - a very intriguing visual effect. Agood entry into the challenge. |

Darkness Falls by TezComment: Technically competant, this would have worked much better if the skyline and ridge profile had been cropped out. If that had been the choice, this image would have had much more pop and wow factor because of the dramatic lighting, monotone feel and use of low shutter speed to create the smooth and effective water flow effect. A good entry into the challenge. |

Darknes has come...by JohannesFrankComment: Sometimes it just can't be helped - Darkness not Darknes. Picky, but that's the way it is. A very dramatic image and one instance where the dark trees have some detail and character. The dramatic sky is very effective. A technical success and a partial artistic success, the image just lacks something to give it pop or wow factor. Maybe a little color might have helped, but it's hard to impart what is missing in an artistic sense. |

Maul...by ConnorComment: A purely movie poster style image that is dramatic and powerful - a portrait of a unconventional scifi character, George Lucas would have been proud to own this as a print. Might not appeal to the average viewer, but to this reviewer it's a very good homage to the scifi genre. Well done. |

From the darkness comes....Mad Mushrooms!by ReinerComment: Love it - absoutely love it. Humor, whimsey, perfectly composed from a technical standpoint and has significant humor and artistic impact not often seen in these challenges. A standing ovation for a very clever and unigue challenge submission. Well done. |

Crepuscular Critterby bspurgeonComment: First what is really an afterthought - a very good title that may have been misunderstood by the general viewer - it could be viewed as too clever by half crepuscular being a term used by almost exclusively emtomologists. :>) That being said, the title exactly matches the subject and is a very good macro shot in difficult lighting conditions. The vaguely detailed background is a perfect compliment to the subject and the entire image is very effective. Well done. |

A Night on the Beachby scooter88Comment: This is a great concept that falls just shy of having major impact on the viewer. For future reference, this could be made much better by using a layer approach exposing the sky more to gain an impression of depth and dimension in addition to increasing the drama of a night beach conversation. Still a very good impression is given even with the slightly over done lanterns. Another approach might have been to concentrate on the subject with a closer in look at a reduced exposure time or aperature. Very nice concept. |

Hiding in the darkby GemGemComment: Very reminiscent of Lorenzo Costa a Renaissance painter of the Ferrara School. His images, while not exactly in the vein of this image, certainly conveyed the same impression that this image conveys. A beautiful composition and portrait of a stage of life that sometimes becomes over whelming. Very effective and powerful. By rights, a top ten image if not a ribbon winner. Well done. |

Two Worldsby sfaliceComment: This image might have been better suited to the concurrently running challenge "Light II" much like the reviewer's own entry. Still, an appreciation of abstract photography is appreciated and this is a good example of the genre. The complimentry colors, pleasing and gentle curves and the not so subtle diffences in shape make a very effective presentation. While it can be viewed as outside the challenge criteria, in another way it does meet the challenge. |
