Mount Timpanogosby treimeeComment: This is a nice Adams style shot, like the detail on the mountain. The one thing I think it is missing is any real depth, which you would no doubt have get if there was any clouds in the sky. Don't you hate it when the weather won't play along! 7 |

Winter Sunset, Lake Galenaby digifotojoComment: This is a nice shot with a good mood. I can't actually tell if it's snow / ice / water, I suspect it is frozen water with snow on top, either way, that doesn't really matter too much. The blown out sun has ended up being a strange shape, but what can you do, shooting with the sun in the frame is always a touch unpredictable. My only other complaint is that there isn't really any detail in the dark areas, but this is made up for in a way by the detail in the clouds. 6 |

The Woods To Nowhereby machineComment: There is no main subject here and the completely washed out sky doesn't help at all either. Everything is in focus, but nothing in particular grabs your attention and the B&W conversion just adds a harsh element to it. |

The New Bornby NodeComment: Nice shot, like the contrast between the black and white llamas(?).
Background is a bit distracting, only slightly out of focus, which I always feel is worse than in focus because it's there but not quite if you see what I mean. |

winterby tiby_dicuComment: There is just too much in the frame here, and with the black and white conversion it makes it even more untidy. Technically it's good, it's always difficult to get snow right and you seem to have made a good job, just don't like the subject(s) itself. |

Winter Woodlandby quicheComment: This is a very nice scene, though something more out of an illustrated children's novel than Ansel Adams I feel. I have no problem with the blown out area itself, but I feel it stops a little abruptly making it look just blown out rather than adding. Overall, a nice shot with an interesting mood. 6 |

Still life, San Fransicoby hajekaComment: Not really sure how this is representative of Adams apart from the fact it's B&W, however since I'm not familiar with his entire work I'll let that go. That aside, this really just feels like you've taken a snapshot in the kitchen and converted it to B&W.
The main subject isn't particularly appealing, and the other objects tend to just clutter rather than add anything. |

Sunset Oaksby fldaveComment: The foreground tree for some reason stands out way too much, and the clouds have an odd over processed look about them. Perhaps too much contrast has caused this, not sure though. |

Waiting on the Weatherby karmatComment: Very nice postcard style shot! My only complaint (and it's a very minor one) is that I find the barbed wire a touch annoying, I would have been tempted to clone it out. |

3.52 Saturday shoppingby MelethiaComment: Love this look, it almost has an HDR'ish feel to it, though in a good way as opposed to the horrible overdone ones. Great range of tones.
I particularly like the way you've managed to catch the central man's shadow on the pillar as he walks by.
As far as Silver Efx goes, I love it. I find that I set one of the presets as just the start of my B&W processing then I make much more detailed adjustments using the panels on the right hand side. One of the features I find very useful are the control points, they do a great job of bringing out certain areas of the photo without making it look fake or post processed. I do agree with you that the price is a little steep though. |
