I like the use of the dpchallenge website in the background. It's a little fuzzy, but then that could just be from trying to photo a monitor. Overall it's a good photo.

I love the framing with the vivid colors, geometric shapes and interesting perspective through the tunnel/tube here, but all this does'nt say desolatioin to me, especially with the feigned pose of your young subject, who I just can't believe to have feelings of desolation.

It may be irrational but then again there are studies that back me up - colours really do have emotional impact and for me, these vivid colours feel very upbeat. Because they dominate the image it doesn't convey desolation to me as much as it might be expexted to given the pose of the model. That said I do really like the unusual viewpoint, the DOF choices and the very clever use of framing.
