I would've darkened the background since the action is the fisherman. Or done the complete opposite; focused on the background making it look good and hid the fisherman further down in the right corner as a pleasant surprise for those looking at a photo for more than 5 seconds. Now it kinda looks like both is in focus, and that makes it messy for me. 6

Love this pic. Nice colors and a path leading off into the distance. Makes me wonder what the gate is keeping in (or out). I like the square crop but think a rectangular one lopping off a couple inches of the foliage would work well too.
