Urban Oasisby TooCoolComment by Melethia: What I like about this is it's real. Beautiful sunsets at beaches and such are nice, and everybody likes 'em, but this is something more people probably see more often. I like the composition and the handling of the light, too. |

Urban Oasisby TooCoolComment by cogerox: Way, way too dark. Burn in some details to give this more interest.Right now the sun is the only thing happening. |

Ghetto Tattooby TooCoolComment by posthumous: I love it. It is deceptively simple, but from own paltry experience as a photographer I know how hard it is to tell a story with an image. And this image conveys an act with astonishing purity. It is quite simply a picture of one person giving a "tattoo" to another person. The face of the person giving is not seen: he is pure action. His arms are featured. For the receiver, only one arm is visible and that's because it is the canvas. We are allowed to see her face, because she is the object. But her eyes are closed, she is utterly passive.
But this is just the surface! By having the story of the photo be so obvious, the viewer is allowed to venture to what I consider the heart of the photo, and that is how comfortable they are with each other. There is something so loving about how he holds her hand. And notice how they both lean forward, as if going to lie down. All in all, this photo seems like nothing so much as a metaphor for relationships: the mutual trust, the adopting of active and passive roles to get certain things done, the way he decorates her life. |

Lines and Colorsby TooCoolComment by canon78: This picture has good potential, but the contrast has been drastically reduced. I think you used too much dodging or shadow/highlight in Photoshop. If you can use a tripod, take 2 seperate exposures for the sky and ground, then merge them with a layer mask. Also be sure to clone out sensor spots (upper left corner). |
