This is the Olympic Park in Munich photographed from a small hill in the middle of the complex, which is called Olympiaberg (which is far from being a mountain!). You can see the stadium with its tent-like roof, the TV tower, and the small lake. The whole thing was built for the 1972 Olympic Games and is now used as a park.
To achieve this effect, you used to have to create a panorama and then shape it into a sphere using "polar coordinates" in Photoshop. Now there are apps that do this in seconds. You just have to make sure that the ratio between ground/city/landscape and sky is roughly the same on both sides of the image; otherwise, you'll get an unsightly edge in the small globe. |
