Wow! More than a full point ahead of the competition! Congrats! I love it when the consensus on a powerful image like this is so clear that the Blue is that much sweeter for the winner.

This one came together quite seamlessly! Very interesting.

"round circle in the square hole" - PennyStreet makes the coolest observations!

Here's a bit of an explanation:

This is the Olympic Park in Munich – photographed from a small hill in the middle of the complex, which is called Olympiaberg (which is far from being a mountain!). You can see the stadium with its tent-like roof, the TV tower, and the small lake. The whole thing was built for the 1972 Olympic Games and is now used as a park.

To achieve this effect, you used to have to create a panorama and then shape it into a sphere using "polar coordinates" in Photoshop. Now there are apps that do this in seconds. You just have to make sure that the ratio between ground/city/landscape and sky is roughly the same on both sides of the image; otherwise, you'll get an unsightly edge in the small globe.

The garnishes and placemat frame this nicely - and add a very appealing freshness. I'm with others in admiring food photography when it's genuinely visually appealing.

What a fascinating "tiny planet" application. I love it! Might need to try this with a panoramic of my own for this side challenge...I've never had much use for it in the past.
