Restingby Ja-9Comment by ArnaMarie: I'm not seeing the inspiration from Mark, but it is a very sweet image and the b&w is solid! Best of luck! :) |

Restingby Ja-9Comment by posthumous: I love this composition, the texture and reflection of the water, and the child's arm connecting the two people.
I'm hanging this in my fantasy gallery

d u s kby Ja-9Comment by wbanning: Hi Janine and greetings from the Critique Club.
Here's a quick summary of what I took away from spending some time with this image...
What caught my attention in a good way was the lovely blue hour light you've captured so well. The color palette is nicely offset by the different temperatures of the artificial light. It all works together very well.
What caught my attention in a "hmmm... I wonder" way was the vertically centered composition with the main subject "bridging" the gap between sky and water. Maybe dropping it a bit more or cropping a bit off the bottom would help.
What caught my attention in a "wish it were different" way was the texture of the water. It seems a bit out of place with the smoothness and calm of the sky. As backdoorhippie noted, a longer exposure would have made a big difference
Overall it's a very pleasant image that captures the gorgeous light of blue hour and punctuates it with highlight of artificial light. It has a sense of cool serenity that is memorable.

Atlas 5 Rocket Launchby Ja-9Comment by Maggye: This is a great image. Your subject is very interesting though might not have been what people had in mind for a landscape challenge. I think you did a very good job capturing the action, and because of that my eyes keep going to the right considering the left empty space not necessary. I would also like to see more vibrant colors and more contrast, as we are used to in your work. |
