I like the grunge beaten up lock for a black and white but the lock is out of focus. I think the focus is just on part of the chain which makes it hard for my eyes to figure out where to start.

Minimalist imagery is always appreciated. A solid image that is crisp, sharp and properly framed and composed - a technical success in every way. From an artistic standpoint, it has significant impact being rich with excellant detail. A perfect demonstration of the power of properly controlled light and focus. Not quite to the same level of expertise as some of the other avian images in this challenge, the image is technically flawed in a couple of ways being under focused in addition to a difficult lighting situation leading to rather flat and dull coloring. The blank sky also enhances these two problems and makes the focus problem stand out. A good effort that might have been improved with a little more patience waiting for a different angle and lighting.

I would probably try to put more contrast into the picture, eliminate some blues and also crop on the right a bit
