Not voting because I can't see these colors correctly (color deficient)

Never seen so many shoes like this lolol
in this image I like the front dof and that it brings it out the center shoes.

thanks for your feedback! this shot indeed does not fit 100% the theme, but hey, worth a try. The rating is more than fair so I can't complain ;)

Indeed, the picture is rather simple in the composition - it was taken through a grid of a heavy machine, but 2.8 may have been too much and the bokeh completely disappeared, leaving behind only a vague blur on the wall behind....

I liked the character and the odd scene, away from the crowd....

Hello from the critique club

An interesting image that meets the challenge in an implied way

Your title helps convey the message that the âwarriorâ is resting though not necessarily âfallenâ as in the challenge brief. Your characterâs appearance is interesting in itself with the historical costume and rifle and the black lipstick adds intrigue. The choice of scene doesnât really add to the story here with the plain wall and the rail tracks they feel more of a distraction rather than adding to the story the image could have conveyed but I think the tongue-in-cheek atmosphere was more important to you here. Thanks for your entry K.

The black lipstick is a little unusual, in fact the whole thing is odd. But charming. I hope you got a shot of the wall, for texture.

*Hello from Sid and the Critique Club*

Congratulations on your top ten finish for a fascinating and well executed image that fully meets the challenge.
I love your original (well, it is to me) and unique interpretation of the challenge brief I can only imagine the amount of âsweat and serious workâ that went into it. I had forgotten all about this technique, I remember reading about it a long time ago but I have never tried it myself, I suppose the occasions where it is appropriate are few and far between but I'm glad you resurrected this for me.

I whole heartedly agree with you, the matches are an absolutely essential component of the whole image, you have captured them very well though I do have a problem with the large area of blown highlight on the end match, its a shame. The threes themselves have come out very well, I love their colours and am mystified how you achieved the variations of colour was this through the flash gel? If so, how come the colours are not universal or is it a combination of separate images?

Anyway, the end result was well worth all the effort, most enjoyable, thanks for submitting, Sid

OK - It's me again, from the DPC Critique Club:

I don't think I've seen a macro like this before. Really very engaging shot. The Canon lens you used is really a great lens and you've put it to good use here. The background and foreground colors meet the challenge for pastels, but the main subject might be stretch. The shallow DOF works to help isolate the honey gathering as the subject, not the bee as a whole. Compositionally, the subject placement along the right 3rd (vertical) is a strong placement choice. You might consider cropping a bit off the bottom to put the subject closer to the intersection of the vertical and horizontal thirds lines. If there's any room left on the left side, you might also consider adding a bit more breathing room to the left of the wing. Macro work is challenging with the often limited DOF, as you have here. You really got the focal plane in a good spot... although I'd be curious what a wider DOF through smaller aperture or focus stacking might do. As it stands the bee blends into the background at the rear.

I really like this photo and these suggestions are meant to encourage other options than the ones you've chosen and not as criticism of the choices you made. Nicely done!
