Tonemapping seems a little overdone to me.

I like the setup, but I think the effect is far too soft. Was the camera stable?

Cool falls, generally strong composition. Too much tone-mapping and too little sharpening for my taste. (6)

This looks like Albion falls in Hamilton. Could be a tad sharper, and I dont like the darked sky.

Looks like you missed the focus on the waterfall...

the processing here doesn't help imo, the burning of the sky is just way too obvious, and the glow filter? is just too much. its a nice location, perhaps a closer shot with out so much foreground would be better

While I do like the HDR tone of the image, there doesn't seem to be a strong focal point in the image that is in sharp focus. Additionally, I think that it's rotated clockwise a bit.

From the Critique Club

I think for the most part you were on the right track with the concept, it's just lacking visually.

Overall, my first impression is that this image certainly fits the challenge and the exposure looks OK, but the image is pretty mundane. There's simply nothing drawing me in, no drama compelling me to keep looking. As others have commented, there are some styling issues with the blood looking like jelly or ketchup and the seam on the pillowcase.

Let's face it, there are only 3 things in this shot and they're just sort of plopped in front of us, trying to tell a story or at least remind us of a story. I think it would have been much better to have a child or a weeping mother in the shot holding the rose. Barring that, the lighting could have been used to create some drama, the light you used here is pretty flat and really makes the scene dull.

Cheers and keep shooting!

This was my second pick for the challenge for the portrayal of the story as it is written, an 8...from me.
