This is a process I have never heard of until now, and even though does look a fiendishly complicated the results do seem very effective. It̢۪s also quite the optical illusion; macros invariably result in a narrow depth of field so when applied to something big, gives an illusion of something being miniature. This has the opposite effect; something small looks really big, and I̢۪m beginning to ponder of different applications for this! This certainly fooled me; I initially thought this was a shot of four turtles, and then bollards along a promenade! I appreciate your skill with messing with my head! To me, it̢۪s not a particularly attractive photo (the colours do seem a bit flat and the line of the heads is a bit uninspiring), but it is an effective demonstration of the process.

My First Weighted Scoring System ™; composition + technical 2.5/3, challenge* 2/1, post processing results 1/2, ooooh factor 2.5/3, originality 1/1 =9 (* I don’t think it’s possible to not meet the challenge on this one so everyone gets a 1/1 – but in this case you get a bonus point for genuinely illustrating a new technique)

Love the DOF on the subject fly and wings! Gross, but still impressed by the DOF on the beast!
