Duck Raceby jomariComment by kanaj: Again, I love how the square crop contains the chaos here. But in this case. Something about that equilateral framing just relieves the eye of the tendency to wander the frame too much and instead seek out the story within--and this b/w treatment really makes those ducks and girl's attention to them the clear focal point. Nicely done. |

Springfestby jomariComment by kanaj: A really terrific example of how the square crop can "contain" the chaos of a busy scene. I'm not sure what it is, but something about the lateral symmetry of the square dimensions makes something like this work in a way that I think a rectangular crop simply wouldn't. And with the dog's expression placed right in the vicinity of a ROT intersection, you've really got some interesting passive storytelling happening in this frame.
