Through Yonder Windowby tangueraComment by overboard: I had a teacher tell me once that the goal of a picture is to have the viewer spend time with the image and come away with something, anything. The more time they spend, the more they get. This work is one of those images that you really spend time with. If you doubt it, check out the comments... much more than the usual. Surprised it didn't ribbon, let alone get a 10. Brilliantly artistic.
BTW.. it was time you ribboned, you certainly show the talent...."Great Dames" is AMAZINGLY ARTISTIC! |

Afternoon Strollby tangueraComment by blindjustice: For some reason, this shot really works; it has a nice artsy- phorjournalistic feel of a seventies or eighties magazine; I think the elements that make the shot are the fence placement; the plant in the foreground, the dog and the striped dress. |

Great Damesby tangueraComment by snaffles: What a gorgeous double portrait, Johanna! And huge congrats on your first ribbon!!! WOOT! :-)
ETA: seconding the previous comment by CNovack on the film noir aspect of this shot. Very emotive of that period, very Mickey Spillane-ish. Excellent work. Message edited by author 2011-05-10 19:29:52. |

This is a Felonyby tangueraComment by HarveyG: Groan, not another cat on the net!
Great result, very arty indeed. You're a versatile and diverse 'tog. Keep it up.
[ETA] Odd that you should use a DX on your D700 FX. What's that all about? If I remember you can set the D700 to DX mode? But why?! Lack of FX glass? Message edited by author 2011-05-10 05:38:14. |

Great Damesby tangueraComment by CNovack: I step away and come back to see you have ribboned. Congrats Johanna! You are no longer the bridesmaid;-P
Absolutely love the photo and fabulous title! Lighting is wonderful. The set-up, costumes, and pose of the models makes me think of film noir. There is an air of mystery but also an element of danger. Mel has a nervous and a frightened look. She makes me think of the dame in danger in the old detective novels/movies who cling to the hero/protecter while looking over their shoulder. Here it is the trusty and faithful dog, Isabella, who will protect her from those nasty thugs:-) Fantastic work and congrats again on the ribbon. |
