This could be just a balloon filled with air. Maybe a different orientation and a string would help? Sorry, I know this didn't help.

While I like the flower shots, I think this is almost too close for my preferences

--- Greetings from the Critique Club! ----

While sunsets and sun rises tend to do well here at DPC, the exposure and processing can be tricky.

You basic composition is good, from a rule of thirds point of view.

The silhouette works nicely to create seperation from the background.

Where you lose points IMO is in the sky itself. The colors, while propbably realistic, come off as a little flat. I recommend that you bump up the saturation to make the oranges more vibrant. A soft touch is required because if you go overboard, it will come off as too processed.

The palm trees are nice but the bushy stuff in the lower right isn't helping your image much.

Try differnt angles, zooming in, moving a bit to the left or right to isolate an element that can serve as the main focal point of the image. As it is, it is hard for the viewer to latch on to anything.

Even with improved processing, the image as it is here probably would not have scored much over a 5.

It's a nice image though, and if it pleases you then you've been successful.

Good luck and feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

David

There's been a few balloon pictures. I don't care to look at them and yours is no different. But you have shown some creativity by leaving some negative space (a good thing) and a crop that I don't think could get any better. It was also a good idea to leave the knot in the middle.
The red against a black background is good. But otherwise it is really not a good artistic photo.

Seems to bright to me, we're losing detail because of it.
