The low perspective creates a sense of inferiority in the viewer. This may be intentional here, but the tilted perspective and the abrupt crop/framing create a disturbing image. My own bias certainly comes into play here, but the overall darkness alongside the afore mentioned elements does create an ominous mood.

I haven't heard that song in years, do they still use it to advertise smarties?

I like the composition with the smarties coming out of the box. The lighting could be improved a bit and there seems to be a bit of grain in the photo.
