Thanks for the votes and comment, I quite liked the idea (this was one of the first shots I did). Try to improve it and repeat the shot several times with different backgrounds and zoom, focus, etc. but never manage to improve this one.

Thanks for the comments and votes, I realize this one wasn't much on the subject of the challenge. There were many issues like excess of noise and didn't manage to bring up the brightness of the lights without bleeding into the silhouette.

This has a faded photograph feel to it - not sure if it was intentional or not. If not, the conversion needed a little more work to improve the contrasts - the gray scale needs more depth.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: As a lapsed geologist, I really enjoy this image, the illusion of a fossil within strata is highly effective - made more so by your choice of aspect ratio. The communication of texture is excellent and this is emphasised by the lack of colour.

Critical stuff: I suppose it lacks a bit of depth but that's really part of its charm.

Overall: Very well constructed.

i like its simplicity
