good attempt....
the lighting is week. it seems like you used a flash.. which created rather front, direct lighting. the background is supposed to be flat black... but i see wrinkles and lines from the cloth. The croping is rather hmm heavy maybe. It sits very heavy on the bottom of the frame.. and looses my interest. The subject matter isn't 'that' interesting to me. This is the angle i 'always' see those toys.. perhaps from a angle that is not usually viewed could have been interesting.

OK- foreground match and background lighter. The depth of field hurts you here- the flame is in focus but the match isn't, so obviously they're on different planes. Shoot this in brighter light... the flame won't be as blown out and you'll be able to increase depth of field.

This is a truely great photograph.. I dont think its fair they let professional photographers, such as yourself, enter amateur competitions such as this. The silence in this photo SCREAMS at me. The inquisitive look of the faux bird, cast in lifelike plastic is not only joyous to behold, but touches me in a deep spiritual way. The stony stare of the feline tells of pent up agressive, waiting to unleash his fury upon an unsuspecting world. To mark this picture as a ten would be an injustice to its raw beauty, so to make a statement, I will give it a 2, but rest assured that in my heart, it will always be a winner..

Nice idea. although with the cat out of focus it almost looks like he was pasted on. I think the main focus should have been the cat, this would have helped the overall feel.

The match seems out of focus and the flame is a little too bright, although it does have some color at the bottom of it. Good diagonal on the match.
