lovely photo..just the right dof I think..(did you have to saturate the colors at all? they are vibrant!) 9

Comment by Jutilda:
This is the only decent photo I saw. Great color. Nice composition. Totally applicable subject matter to the challenge. I might crop out some of the sky, but otherwise - good. Yeah- finally one worthy of a ribbon (in my opinion). 9

Comment by CEJ:
I think this would have been stronger if more of the focus was on your subject and not as much of the surroundings were present - tighter crop.

Nice image but the lines are not leading me to something special. Alþingishúsið, er það ekki?

Great photo, but for this challenge I'm not sure the background being blurred is a good thing IMO.

Comment by Artifacts:
Leading lines or curves generally have two purposes. One is to lead the viewer into the scene. The other is to lead you toward the main subject. It is most effective if they come in from the lower left because that is the natural direction humans visually scan a picture from so are easiest to pick up.

Focus is also an effective way to direct attention to the main subject. In this case the image is nice but the viewer may be confused where you want them to look. You might consider shooting this with focus set to infinity. That way the leading lines and focus directs the viewer to the same place.

Maybe using smaller aperture to get greater depth of field would have looked better.

Well, usually I can specifically point out things that 'move' me, and cause me to like an image. In this case though, I can't quite put my finger on it, but I find I really like this photo. Maybe it's a bunch of little things that contribute subtly to make it work for me. Perhaps the dof, maybe the lighting, maybe the texture in the wall, perhaps the simple yet bold composition, even the border in this case adds to the presentation IMO. I don't know, but I just really like it. Great job. :-)
