yakatme - what he said!

I don't quite know what the background is and I really like it - I'm not sure you've made best use of it, but what a great eye you have to see the potential in this scene.

A lovely image and very nearly a great one. Reminds me of a butterfly.

I'd like to see your PP steps; I'd probably approach it a little differently - upping the exposure with a big ramp up in the black point to isolate it a little more from the background; with a final bit of highlight recovery to bring back the yellow, then sharpen to taste.

Having said all that, you may not have access to such tools and actually your image is still lovely.

Nice array of colour. I like the narrow vignette.

This is so lovely. I think it qualifies as a portrait because it has such personality.

I love pansies. Those colourful umbrellas make a great backdrop.

The impact is striking immediately upon opening this image. The colors and post processing that you applied is very dramatic. I also like the border which compliments the blurriness of the image. I would, however, like to see a little more focus on the center of the flower.

Having taken a closer look at the center of the flower, I see that there are tell tale signs of extreme post processing in the yellow. I'm guessing that you selected that area and applied a lot of post processing to it. The edges of the selected area show up like a beacon. To avoid this, I suggest that you select an area that is larger than whan you want to enhance and then use the history brush in varying degrees of intensity to fade the transition from the rest of the image. If I am mistaken in my assumption, I aplogize.

Wow, definitely an appropriate and descriptive title. The focus seems to be on the iron hanger and the vertical stems of the purple flowers. My eye tends to want to see the focus on the yellow flowers on the left, maybe because they are the most prominent flowers in the image.

You used almost the absolute largest aperture that your lens will allow. I would suggest using a smaller aperture to increase depth of field when capturing a scene in which there is no primary subject, and then focus one third of the way into the photo.

I'm still trying to figure out the technicalties of my camera and once I think I figured something out somethin else happens ack. I will give that a whirl. I have a few wild flowers out in our woods my son saw blooming today I'd like to work on tomorrow so I'll read up and try that! Thanks
