I feel I am the wavy arm, I am there. I see the emotion of the response, a chance capture of everyday life that is the reality of our memories. Such a real image and feeling, something to hold and recall in the gathering of loved ones.

To dismiss this as a snapshot would be a great loss. And maybe it is a snapshot. (I hope it is.) Meaningless definitions aside, what we have here is a beautifully captured farewell. The longer-than-handheld exposure has captured not only the woman's smeary wave, but a ghostly hand (the photographer's?) waving back. The license plate adds local color. The mirror and A-pillar not only enhance the composition but also add point of view. I would love to see this as the first in a series, maybe a photographic travelogue from behind the driver's seat.
