I'm not sure what it is either, I tried neat image on it, and it looked worse. I think it is just cropped too much.

You did good. You captured a very natural looking smile that connects with the viewer. Matter of fact, she jumps out at you and you feel like she is right here in the room. Typically, they (whoever "they" is) say you are never supposed to crop the chin off, but I think in this extreme close-up, it works. I love that red hair too!

nice subjuect and i like the crop, you didn't list your aperature but looks like it was pretty wide as the far eye is oof, which may be what you wanted
