This is an interesting shot, I'm trying to figure out if it's actually underwater or through glass, can't wait to find out. As for the shot itself, the light coming through the upper palm of the hand is rather distracting and I think it might have worked better if it wasn't quite as bright or if it's to represent the sun could have been more to the side or through the fingers because coming so bright through the hand it should have been more red.

Hmmm.. This would be a really nice shot but it looks like there's too much level adjustment in the post editing. (Or you used too much of a filter on the camera) Was origional shot too bright? Well, good luck.

Oh - a la 1950! Now I get why you're using that effect - you certainly nailed it. I'm not sure about the composition, though. Maybe lower the shot and shift it right - more of the statue and move the statue more to the left.
