"Usual Suspects"by kengurinnComment by e301: Meant to comment on this shot during the challenge - and I've only remembered it now it's on the TV tonight :-) Great shot - IMO by far the most origianl and striking of the challenge - certainly the one that stays in thhe memory.

Checkmate!!!!by kengurinnComment by amsmyth: This expression is so familiar - both my sons played chess for the H.S. Team (although the cup was not displayed with other championship trophies...) and I recognize the win. I like the props, too. 8 |

Checkmate!!!!by kengurinnComment by gerdagrice: Chess really does seem to be a sport in this shot--complete with gatorade and a towel! There seems to be a bit of a colour cast in the photo and it would be nice if the image were a bit sharper, but I love the concept of this shot and the pose and expression of the "chess athlete"! Small point: there's a bit too much negative space over the player's head for my tast, but that's just me. |

Checkmate!!!!by kengurinnComment by Artifacts: Fun image. The gatorade and towel are nice touches. A cheerleader with a low cut top and nice pom poms would work well in this situation. :)
However, if the king is on the black square it could move to N6 or aggressively to N4 to attack the knight, rook and pawn. With queen support and the black rook eventually taking whites rook black could easily get a draw and possibly win the game before white can advance its pawns.
If the king is on the white square then it could still move to K6 to try and escape... but then it would only be a matter of time.
Might still be early to pour gatorade over the coachs head. |
